Lucas Arts and Bioware have begun sign-ups for Star Wars: The Old Republic BETA testing. If you want to try and get in on it go to http://www.swtor.com/tester. You will need to use either Firefox or IE because it requires a scan of your computer to make sure you're specs are up to date. Good Luck! |

Newegg.com has now added Windows 7 OEM edition to it's list of products. The price is about 50% cheaper than the retail versions! We'll have to wait a bit to see what the exact prices will be in Canada, but expect to see Windows 7 Home Premium OEM for around $100 and Windows 7 Ultimate for around $170. OEM versions allow customers to buy Windows at a discounted price, but they don't receive the fancy retail packaging or technical support through Microsoft, and it can only be installed and used on one computer. You can still upgrade computer parts, but you can't move it to a completely new machine. At OEM prices it's more affordable to buy a new copy of Windows with each new computer anyways. One important thing to keep in mind. Unlike the Retail and Upgrade versions of Windows 7, OEM versions don't come with both 32bit and 64bit on the disk. You have to make a choice and stick with it. I suggest 64bit. |

Left For Dead will be getting new downloadable content (DLC) on September 29. It will be free to PC gamers; Xbox 360 owners will have to pay a small price ($7). The update will include a full campaign plus vs maps and will bridge the gap between No Mercy and Death Toll. Also included are a few tweaks, including an attack recharge timer for super-infected players in VS mode. In L4D2 news, a demo will be exclusively available for those who pre-order on or after October 27. |

Microsoft has announced that has been developing a new touchscreen ultra-mobile device that will function as an ebook reader and mobile device. The "Courier" was developed in secrecy with a small team of engineers and is in its final stages of development. The device features a book-like design with two 7" touchscreens -- similar to a Nintendo DS. Both screens will support multi-touch and allow users to write using fingers or stylist pen. One cool feature lets you drag items from one screen to another just by dragging the item to the hinge of the device. The Courier will also include WiFi access, web cam and battery with induction recharging, which means the device can be charged just by laying it down on it's charge pad, no need to plug in cables. My guess is that this device will will compete with Amazon's Kindle and other ebook readers.
