Best all around headset suggestion? or should I just get a good set of gaming headsets and a separate one for music (I'm a music freak and I can't go a day without it)

One of my friends bought a G35 USB which uses Dolby software to produce a 7.1 surround sound experience. I'm gonna ask to borrow them for a day and try them out on some different games (although Assassins Creed did sound pretty nice with them) and compare them with my Plantronics (Audio 750 DSP Stereo Headset) though I did like the functions possible just on the ear piece, being USB I was unsure and also if I got one its more so designed to bring out footsteps, explosives, and gun shots in FPS games so I'd need to look into a music set.

just posting for some feedback.

*edit: no I do also know these have stereo option for music

I'd really like to know what the G35's are like as well. Usually USB audio lacks overall quality and REALLY lacks bass. Hopefully you'll get to try them soon and can let me/us know.

They may work for music as well, who knows...

OK, well I tried them out comparing them with 3 types of songs

G35 definitively has better bass, but I was not impressed with the treble... I couldn't get it to sound crisp and clear like my Plantronics, on the other hand when the G35 volume is turned up I found it started sounding like distorted (welcome to USB I guess) but it wasn't as noticeable if treble was low

FYI: I haven't tried the surround out yet in a fps game yet

I can say I won't be upgrading to a G35 at this point though

I would like a over the ear (closed-ear model). The Plantronics I have if they don't sit just right they can be painful after a hour or even less sometimes...

anyone have suggestions?

Find an old version of the Plantronics with round ear pads. I find those very comfortable.
