![]() Newegg.com has now added Windows 7 OEM edition to it's list of products. The price is about 50% cheaper than the retail versions! We'll have to wait a bit to see what the exact prices will be in Canada, but expect to see Windows 7 Home Premium OEM for around $100 and Windows 7 Ultimate for around $170. OEM versions allow customers to buy Windows at a discounted price, but they don't receive the fancy retail packaging or technical support through Microsoft, and it can only be installed and used on one computer. You can still upgrade computer parts, but you can't move it to a completely new machine. At OEM prices it's more affordable to buy a new copy of Windows with each new computer anyways. OneĀ importantĀ thing to keep in mind. Unlike the Retail and Upgrade versions of Windows 7, OEM versions don't come with both 32bit and 64bit on the disk. You have to make a choice and stick with it. I suggest 64bit. |
