| AMD Six-core "Thuban" Processor |

![]() AMD has announced it will launch it's first 6-core processor in 2010. A major plus is that the processor will be backward compatible with AMD's current AM3 and AM2+ motherboards. The "Thuban" will feature six cores using 45nm die and will include an integrated DDR3 controller. Also rumored, 3MB of L2 and 6MB of L3 cache. The latest offering from AMD will complete with Intel's I9 series of 6-core processors that will also include hyper-threading for a total of 12 processing threads. No speed specifications or prices have been announced yet. |
