![]() It is possible to install Windows 7 Upgrade on a new hard drive from the store or if it has been freshly formatted. Last week I went to upgrade my Windows XP Netbook and it wouldn't launch the disk from inside to OS. I then decided to try formatting the hard drive and installing the upgrade without first verifying my older copy of Windows.
There you go, this way you don't have to have Windows installed on a hard drive in order to use the Upgrade version. Which reduces the hassle quite a bit. Microsoft has confirmed that as long as you own a previous version of Windows this is a LEGIT way of installing Windows 7!
